I love the poem "The Night Before Christmas" and this book illustrated by Tasha Tudor could not be a more beautiful depiction of it。 The poem itself is so melodic and soothing and these amazing illustrations reflect that。 A book that is truly a beautiful treasure。 Worth reading every year during the Christmas season。 I love the poem "The Night Before Christmas" and this book illustrated by Tasha Tudor could not be a more beautiful depiction of it。 The poem itself is so melodic and soothing and these amazing illustrations reflect that。 A book that is truly a beautiful treasure。 Worth reading every year during the Christmas season。 。。。more

Credited with creating the visual description of Santa Claus, this classic poem has led to many sugar plums dancing in many heads。 The origin is disputed but the influence on Christmas and how it is observed isn’t。

Started a tradition reading this to my kids。 This version is spectacular。 The illustrations are fanyastic。

illustrations: Golden Book, Corinne MalvernThis is the version I read as a child, so of course I like it。 NbC was never among my favorite Christmas stories, but I appreciate it more now because so many of what we consider traditional started with Moore's tale。 (e。g。, 8 flying reindeer, the reindeer names, 'not a creature was stirring" 。。。) illustrations: Golden Book, Corinne MalvernThis is the version I read as a child, so of course I like it。 NbC was never among my favorite Christmas stories, but I appreciate it more now because so many of what we consider traditional started with Moore's tale。 (e。g。, 8 flying reindeer, the reindeer names, 'not a creature was stirring" 。。。) 。。。more

So。。。。。I'm conflicted on this one。 The Night Before Christmas is a classic。 I enjoy it and I think it will be a regular one in the Christmas rotation。 However, Jan Brett's illustrations (in this case) are not my favorite。 Even Scott made the comment that they were a bit too old fashioned, too busy, for his tastes。 While that works in other Jan Brett texts, I don't love that when I am reading The Night Before Christmas。 My rating for this is more like a 2。5。 So。。。。。I'm conflicted on this one。 The Night Before Christmas is a classic。 I enjoy it and I think it will be a regular one in the Christmas rotation。 However, Jan Brett's illustrations (in this case) are not my favorite。 Even Scott made the comment that they were a bit too old fashioned, too busy, for his tastes。 While that works in other Jan Brett texts, I don't love that when I am reading The Night Before Christmas。 My rating for this is more like a 2。5。 。。。more

It's not Christmas Eve unless I've read this book/poem。 I adore the edition I have because the illustrations are absolutely stunning。 One that I'll absolutely reread ever year。 It's not Christmas Eve unless I've read this book/poem。 I adore the edition I have because the illustrations are absolutely stunning。 One that I'll absolutely reread ever year。 。。。more

Top tier poem makes me feel really festive and makes me wish I had a voice that could narrate something like this properly

“He was dressed all in furs, from his head to his foot,And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot。A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack。”Christmas can be a chaos of emotion when it comes each year, but no matter how the festive season plays out, I always have my memories of Santa from when I was a child。

Just like we used to read when I was a child, I enjoyed this book very much ❤️🎄💚

10/10This book emits beautiful memories, but I adore the conception of it for its power to generate that magic and awe that inspires a child’s spirit as did mine。 It’s classic Christmas folklore and for me, older, it gets me in that spirit, that headspace, which I cherish so deeply。

A good version of the poem that we’ve been reading yearly。We read the Little Golden book and a board book of this。

Would I read this in most storytimes? No。 It's filled with too many unfamiliar words for the toddler/preschool mix I tend to have, and the pictures (particularly in this edition, illustrated by Wendy Watson) are too small to show to a large group, like I might have if I were in a classroom setting。 Still, the rhythm of this poem means I love reading it aloud almost to the point of memorization, so I took the opportunity of a virtual storytime where I could get the pictures close to the camera an Would I read this in most storytimes? I’ve read this book and also people have read this particular book to me throughout years。 Just recently watched the YouTube video of Michael Bublé reading this book (which I highly recommend)。 It’s just a cute little Christmas book。 🎅🏻

Although I can't remember that far back, I could, apparently, recite this poem and turn the pages in my picture book at just the right time in my recitation at the age of maybe three。 The introduction tells of the author and a bit of the history of this famous poem that has been translated into many languages。We are all familiar with the opening line, but my history always mentions that I asked my grandmother, "Gram, why don't we ever have sash for dinner?" Or, words much to that effect。 Why? Because of the line, "Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutters and threw up the sash。" Ewww! The illustrations, by Miss Jessie Wilcox Smith, evoke an old fashioned Christmas。 To appreciate the images fully, you need to read this on a device that will show them in color。Following the final verse is a more extensive biography of Clement C。 Moore, born in New York City, July 15, 1779。The story of "A Visit from St。 Nicholas' remains a timeless favorite。 。。。more
